Wall of Diversity
at the American Museum of Natural History
A Sacred Site of the Epic of Evolution
Natural History museums throughout the world offer opportunities for learning and spiritual contemplation of the epic of evolution. Like many such museums, the American Museum of Natural History in the heart of New York City offers opportunities to commune with fossil and recently extinct (e.g. Thylacine, Passenger Pigeon) specimens. But its now-celebrated "Wall of Diversity" is so artistic, so immense, and so mysterious in the darkened hall that one can easily enter a reverie here.
Best time to visit is during the school year, after 3:00 pm so that the boisterous crowds of school children are gone, and before the 5:00 pm closing.
